Advanced Digital Photography is a student-driven, project-based course that supports students in refining their technical and artistic photography skills through personalized, instructor-guided projects. Building on skills developed in Intermediate Digital Photography, students explore complex composition and lighting scenarios, deepen their understanding of digital photography technology, and connect technical skills with artistic intent. Photography as a fine art remains central to the course, with critical analysis of both contemporary and historical works informing students' own creative development.

Students focus on areas of personal interest and work toward producing a cohesive and sophisticated body of work. This course is especially recommended for students intending to pursue arts and photography education and careers beyond high school, culminating in the production and presentation of a professional-quality portfolio. A digital SLR camera is required. Photo editing software with layer functionality is also required; GIMP is a recommended open-source option, while Adobe Photoshop is highly recommended.
